2019! Things You Need to Do!

Updated: Jan 5, 2019

Dudes 2018 is over!

Time to get on with the future. So here's what you can do to make 2019 a great year:

1. Reflect on 2018

Did you have a good year? A bad year? A challenging year? Time to reflect, and do what we would call an After Action Review (AAR). What went right? What went wrong? What did you fail at? Are you going to fail next year? Time to get into gear.

2. Get on 2019

Like the principle from the Breakfast Club. Grab the bull by the horns. Remember that Every Day Matters. So make the most of it. Don't let complacency, laziness, apathy, fear, or whatever get in the way of your new year.

3. Plan it out

What are you doing? I remember all the things I failed at during the start of 18. I really don't want a repeat. I want the best. So in a couple of days, life's going to suck, but then it's going to get better. Create your plan, and stick to it.

4. Don't let failure drag you down

Have a rough year? Spend too much time failing? I know the feeling. The good news is that tomorrow you'll either be dead or have the opportunity to do it differently. So do it right. Don't let past failures interrupt future success. Take the lesson and roll with it. Dwelling doesn't change anything. If you're still feeling it after reading this, do push ups until it hurts so bad you can't think. And then move on with your life.

5. Every Day Matters

I said it. So live it. Make every day special. Even the mundane Monday's. Love your wife, love your kids, love your neighbor. Love God. Love yourself. We're not guarenteed a tomorrow. God could take us out of the game any time He pleases. So let's make it worthwhile.

6. Get Comfortable Being Uncomfortable

That's right. Change is inherently uncomfortable. So get used to it. I know I have some big 2019 plans and January is most likely going to suck. However, the changes are necessary to the benefit of myself and my family. So, if you need to lose weight, quit smoking, start reading your Bible daily, whatever it is: it's going to be uncomfortable.

So here's your 2019 low down. Reflect on 2018, make a journal for 2019, and keep to it. Count your blessings and make every day matter.
