A Quick Hebrew Apologetic

This is for all of those searching for the truth, and will not stop until they get it. It's also for those in the MSC (Main Stream Christianity) that think that the Hebrew theology is wrong. So, I'm going to give a few scriptures, and let the Bible speak for itself:

If a prophet or someone who has dreams arises among you and proclaims a sign or a wonder to you, and that sign or wonder he has promised you comes about, but he says, 'Let us follow other gods,' which you have not known, 'and let us worship them,' do not listen to that prophet's words or to that dreamer. For the Lord your God is testing you to know whether you love the Lord your God with all your heart and all your soul. You must follow the Lord your God and fear Him. You must keep His commands and listen to His voice; you must worship Him and remain faithful to Him. That prophet or dreamer must be put to death, because he has urged rebellion against the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt and redeemed you from the place of slavery, to turn you from the way the Lord your God has commanded you to walk. You must purge the evil from you.

-Deuteronomy 13:1-5

So basically, if anyone comes along, and urges people not to obey the commands that God gave, they're not from God. Makes sense. So let's see what Yeshua (Jesus) has to say:

Don't assume that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets, I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. For I assure you: Until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or one stroke of a letter will pass from the law until all things are accomplished. Therefore, whoever breaks one of the least of these commands and teaches people to do so will be called least in the Kingdom of heaven. But whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the Kingdom of heaven. For I tell you, unless your righteousness surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.

-Matthew 5:17-20

So Yeshua says that until heaven and earth pass away, not one stroke of a letter will pass from the law. Interesting. Let's see what Paul has to say:

Since there is one God who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through faith. Do we then cancel the law through faith? Absolutely not! On the contrary, we uphold the law.

-Romans 3:32

Even Paul upheld the law. If you need more clarification, you can reference him doing that in Acts 20.

The thing is, it's inconsistent to say God would give us His holy law, tell us it's good for us. Send His Son to earth to live and teach it. Command us to walk as He walked, and then ascend back into heaven and send his apostles out to tell everyone not to do it. That's not something an unchanging God would do. It would completely violate Deuteronomy 13.

The thing is, salvation is by faith through grace in Yeshua. No one is saying any different. But His death, wasn't to get us out from under the law, it was to free us from the consequences of it. The law isn't a curse, the consequences are. That's the point. I know it's a 180 from what you taught in church. I have no doubt some will read this and reject it. Some will not. That's between you and God. Not me. I believe His entire word. I believe it's consistent and true, all the way through. There is no great reversal. No cancellation, no replacement. That makes no sense. And no where in the Bible does it say that.

As I wrote in my previous blog post, there's going to be consequences to following Yeshua, should you take Him seriously. Loss of friends, loss of church, maybe loss of spouse. But what is greater, God, or man? Yeshua talked a lot about how precious the kingdom is, and he tells us that we must love Him more than anything. Losing Pork and Shrimp isn't that big of a deal in perspective. Oh, and getting 52 days off a year for Sabbath is pretty awesome. And the feasts. No complaints here.
