Self Help: An Industry Lacking

The Self Help industry is like a boat on the beach. It's not getting you anywhere and here's why:

At some point in time, you've probably been inspired through some self-help guru, program, video, book, speech, meme, etc. Don't worry, I have been too. These guys make up to 50k an hour to speak, and millions off their books, and stuff. They're good at what they do. That said, it's lacking the one thing it needs to work. God.

For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life because of Me will find it. What will it benefit a man if he gains the whole world yet loses his life?

Christ needs to be the foundation of your life. He needs to be the center, and His mission for you, your purpose. The Bible is the true inspirational book you need to be reading. Not some 10 step guide to success. Now don't get me wrong, there's a lot of books out there with a lot of wisdom, and practical tips that you can learn from. But without God at the center of your life, getting that mansion and Ferrari won't mean much.

So my recommendation is to be very weary of all these supposed self-help guru's. A lot of time they're selling you cotton candy. Get real, get God, and soldier on. And think twice before you shell out your hard earned money for some $20 book on the 5 ways to a better you or some stuff like that. You work too hard to drop bread on something that's going to collect dust in two weeks.
